Community gets creative in ‘makers’ space’

Abuquerqueans who love to tinker have a collaborative space to set up shop.

QueLab is a makers’ space in the Wells Park neighborhood near downtown Albuquerque. It offers community members resources to help them create new tools, art, and ideas.

Morgan Gangwere, a QueLab member, said the space is “a means to build community and bring people in. It gives people availability of tools and fresh ideas.”

QueLab is a self-governing organization. “We treat this as a club basically,” Gangwere said.

The space is also used for continuing education as an alternative to traditional education. People at all levels, from beginners to professors, can build things and share them with others.
